At the 15th dena Energy Transition Congress in Berlin, one of the leading forums on the energy transition in Germany, Prof Dr Uwe Holzhammer from Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) enriched the discussion with an exciting presentation. The congress, organised by the German Energy Agency (DENA), dealt with the diverse challenges of the energy transition and presented innovative solutions under the motto ‘Climate protection as a currency for the future’, with the aim of developing new solutions for the transformation of the energy system through the exchange of experience and knowledge.
In his lecture, Prof Holzhammer presented a possible approach for municipal, renewable heat generation concepts. He showed how biomethane CHP plants (combined heat and power plants) in combination with technologies such as flow heat pumps can enable a sustainable and efficient heat supply. These approaches not only offer sustainable energy generation, but also contribute to regional value creation and security of supply.
This year's congress brought together over 1,200 high-calibre participants from politics, business, science and research.
