Ongoing crises emphasise the importance of foresight in the business world. It is important to recognise early signs of change, develop various future scenarios and act accordingly. In the Motives and Fiction II project in collaboration with the Foresight Academy, the possibility of using video games as an immersive tool for foresight is demonstrated.

Video games offer a broad spectrum of trends and a unique experience of different scenarios. Video games allow players, but also decision-makers, to emotionally immerse themselves in different future scenarios and analyse them. In addition, immersive insights into possible future scenarios encourage reflection on topics such as the relationship between humans and AI, everyday technical solutions, sustainability and social divisions. They show how AI could influence our lives, what mobility and communication will look like in the future and how ecological responsibility could characterise everyday life. By experiencing political conflicts and social dynamics, players reflect on social consequences and technological developments.

As a resource for foresight endeavours, video games make future scenarios tangible and promote strategic thinking about the opportunities and risks of technological development. They create an emotional approach to complex issues and enable an intensive examination of future challenges.
